Testicular Aspiration

Testicular aspiration is a procedure to provide an infertile couple a chance to become pregnant. This procedure is performed on men that have had a vasectomy and whose partner is under the care of a fertility specialist. As an outpatient procedure, a testicular aspiration is performed in an operating room with a general anesthetic. Sperm are retrieved directly from the testicle. The sperm sample may then be frozen until ovulation occurs in the partner.

If the attempt at pregnancy fails, the procedure can be repeated. If it has been less than 15 years since the vasectomy, the man may elect to have a vasectomy reversal procedure.
