Maureen Brown, RN, FNP-BC (Berrywood Office)

Maureen received her nursing education in Los Angeles and earned a Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Missouri. She also has a Bachelor of Science and Master’s degree in Health Education from the University of Illinois. Maureen is retired from the University of Missouri Columbia where she taught in the School of Nursing and coordinated the Nurse Practitioner post master’s program. Her teaching responsibilities included women’s health across a lifespan, advanced physical assessment and primary care of an adult client. She has also published many journal articles and textbook chapters pertaining to her research interests, which include stress management, physical assessment and safe tanning. Maureen is a member of many professional organizations including the National Association of Nurse Practitioner Faculty, American Nurses’ Association and Missouri Nurses’ Association. She has served on committees for professional, university and community services. She has been a consultant and lecturer for the American Healthcare Institute. Maureen also serves as the Clinical Coordinator for the Mid-Missouri Continence Center. Maureen and her husband Jim (a retired professor from the College of Education at UMC) raised seven children and have 13 grandchildren. Maureen’s hobbies include golf, cooking and family vacations to South Carolina.
