OUR PROVIDERS
Our providers include four urologists and one certified
nurse practitioner.
A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse (RN) who has advanced education
and clinical training and is nationally certified. Nurse practitioners
are recognized nationally as expert health care providers and work in a
variety of health care settings.
Our providers have privileges at Boone
Hospital Center and Columbia
Regional Hospital. Consulting priviledges are also utilized at Pershing Medical
Center in Brookfield.

Jerrold A. Schermer, M.D., F.A.C.S.
|
Dr. Schermer is from St. Louis and received his medical degree from Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed surgical residency at Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans, and Urology residency at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. Dr. Schermer is certified by the American Board of Urology, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has been practicing Urology since 1990. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Urological Association, and the American Association of Clinical Urologists. Dr. Schermer also serves as the Medical Director for the Mid-Missouri Continence Center.
Dr. Schermer’s areas of special interest include female urology and neurourology.
Dr. Schermer and his wife, Judy, have three children. Dr. Schermer enjoys bicycling, tennis, music, painting and supporting the University of Missouri-Columbia Tigers.

Michael R. Cupp, M.D., F.A.C.S.
|
Dr. Cupp was born and raised in Columbia, Missouri and received both his undergraduate degree in chemistry and his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Cupp received his urology and general surgery training from Mayo Clinic. Dr. Cupp is certified by the American Board of Urology, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has been practicing Urology since 1996. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Urological Association, the American Association of Clinical Urologists and the American Lithotripsy Society.
Dr. Cupp’s areas of special interest and experience are in urologic oncology, including the diagnosis and surgical management of prostate cancer and the management of urinary stone disease.
Dr. Cupp and his wife, Joni, have four children. An avid Mizzou Tiger fan, Dr. Cupp enjoys football Saturdays in Columbia along with attending Mizzou’s basketball games in the winter. Dr. Cupp’s other hobbies include hunting and fishing.

Siobhan H. McGaughey, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. McGaughey (pronounced "McGoy") received her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Her Urology residency was completed at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. McGaughey is certified by the American Board of Urology, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has been practicing Urology since 2002.
Dr. McGaughey is a member of the American Urological Association, Society of Women in Urology, and the American Association of Clinical Urologists. Well-trained in all areas of urology, Dr. McGaughey enjoys the diversity of practicing general urology, including treatment of tumors of genitourinary tract, kidney stones, urinary incontinence and infections. Dr. McGaughey is the only practicing female Urologist in the Mid-Missouri area.
Dr. McGaughey was raised in Topeka, Kansas. Dr. McGaughey and her husband, Jeff, have two children. When time allows, she enjoys traveling (Ireland is of special interest), reading and ballet.

John M. McMurtry, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Associated Urologists is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. John McMurtry to the practice. Dr. McMurtry will be available to patients in December 2006. Dr. McMurtry was born and raised in Washington, Pennsylvania and received his undergraduate degree in biology from Indiana University and his medical degree from Temple University. Dr. McMurtry received his general surgery training from Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA and his urology surgery training from Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. McMurtry is certified by the American Board of Urology, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has been practicing Urology since 1995. He is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Urological Association. Dr. McMurtry’s areas of special interest and experience are in urologic oncology, including the diagnosis and surgical management of prostate cancer, infertility and the management of urinary stone disease. Dr. McMurtry's wife, Dr. Paula McMurtry, is a Rheumatologist and practices at Boone Clinic in Columbia. They have two children. Dr. McMurtry's outside interests include woodworking and farming.

Maureen Brown, MSN, RN, BC, FNP, CUNP
|
Maureen received her nursing education in Los Angeles and earned a Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Missouri. She also has a Bachelor of Science and Master’s degree in Health Education from the University of Illinois.
Maureen is retired from the University of Missouri Columbia where she taught in the School of Nursing and coordinated the Nurse Practitioner post master’s program. Her teaching responsibilities included women’s health across a lifespan, advanced physical assessment and primary care of an adult client. She has also published many journal articles and textbook chapters pertaining to her research interests, which include stress management, physical assessment and safe tanning.
Maureen is a member of many professional organizations including the National Association of Nurse Practitioner Faculty, American Nurses’ Association and Missouri Nurses’ Association. She has served on committees for professional, university and community services. She has been a consultant and lecturer for the American Healthcare Institute. Maureen also serves as the Clinical Coordinator for the Mid-Missouri Continence Center.
Maureen and her husband Jim (a retired professor from the College of Education at UMC) raised seven children and have 13 grandchildren. Maureen’s hobbies include golf, cooking and family vacations to South Carolina.
