What is a Nurse Practitioner?
A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a Registered Nurse (RN) who has advanced education, training and national certification. NP's provide for the health care needs of patients through assessment, diagnosing, treating and evaluating. NP's have been found to provide safe and comprehensive care in a cost effective manner with high consumer satisfaction rating. Nurse practitioners are recognized nationally as expert health care providers and work in a variety of health care settings.
Nurse Practitioners are educated to provide these services:
Perform physical examinations
Prescribes medications, treatments and therapies
Order, perform and interpret laboratory studies, x-rays, and EKGs
Diagnose and treat actue and chronic health conditions
Provide health maintenance, screening and immunizations
Promote healthly life styles through patient education and counseling
Collaborate with physicians and other health care professionals as needed
