Incontinence
A Common Problem, But There Is Help
You may feel you are the only person with this problem.
However, in the United States, approximately 13 million
people suffer from some form of incontinence.
Incontinence is never normal and is not a normal part
of aging. It is important to remember that while millions
suffer from incontinence urine loss can often be
improved or cured.
Incontinence can lead to exhaustion because of
interruption of sleep, make travel uncomfortable or
even impossible and in some cases lead to social
isolation. It can keep you from enjoying a full life.
Many people with urinary incontinence wait over a year
to talk with their health care provider partly because
of embarrassment and because they are unaware help is
available. Understanding the problem and seeking medical
help are the first steps in gaining control.
